Dr. Sanjay on CNN Weed Documentary and Eric Holder’s Announcement

The fight against prohibition rages on, but we have a few pieces of good news to share with the MMJ patient community in Los Angeles. In case you missed the exclusive CNN Documentary last night called Weed, here is a link to Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s article about marijuana on the CNN website. You can watch the full documentary commercial free in this YouTube video:

Dr. Sanjay used to be against marijuana, and stated firmly that marijuana had no medical value before. He was nominated for Surgeon General by the Obama administration in 2009, which is when his views on cannabis became a point of public discussion. Since then, he’s had a change of heart, and now believes that marijuana may even cure cancer. Our collective salutes Dr. Gupta’s enlightened view, and his courage in openly recanting his previous statements.

Dr. Sanjay’s CNN documentary serves as an interesting primer to Attorney General Eric Holder’s highly anticipated announcement on criminal justice reform. The details of Holder’s plan remain unclear at this point, but he is expected to make changes on mandatory minimum sentencing in federal drug cases, especially those that involve non-violent offenders. You can read more about this on the Guardian UK. We will update this story as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, we’d love to hear your thoughts on both of these important events in medical cannabis. Share your thoughts in the comments below!
